2009 - House and Senate Bill HR-2

A load of SCHIP

Not wasting much time after coming into power, the Democrat-controlled US House and US Senate, no longer held at bay by a Republican President’s veto power, made great haste in passing the enormous expansion of SCHIP - health coverage for “poor” children - and doing so exclusively on the backs of ALL tobacco users - cigarettes, cigars, pipe, roll your own and smokeless. (I have “poor” in quotes because this expansion now covers a majority of children not in poor families and as old as 30). The bill number says it all - it was the second bill considered in this new congress.

Guess it was too much to expect the remaining Republicans to filibuster this monstrosity... worthless!

So, all of you who purchase tobacco products legally, expect the taxes to balloon - ironically - on April 1st 2009. Look who we put in office and what they’ve done - April Fools!

Now you need to know who voted for this insane monstrosity. Below are links to the Thomas register detailing everything about the bill and who in the Senate and House voted for and against it. In case you don’t know for some reason, President Obama not only signed it, but was eager to do so - so much for “Hope”. Go to these links and see who is guilty of supporting it - especially which Republicans voted for it.
