North Carolina takes it up the Ass for Anti

As of January 2nd 2010, Complete Restaurant and Bar Ban

Only nonprofit clubs, cigar bars and “country clubs” exempt

Want Revenge - Here are the Guilty and the Heroes

What was once a proud beacon of respect for private property freedom will now become another sad chapter in this country’s descent into a nanny-state-nation. This did not have to happen. Yes, Anti spent a great deal of money and influence to get this passed. But Smokers and freedom lovers in North Carolina could have spoken up and loudly opposed this. Some did, but certainly not most and not enough. Freedom lovers of the state could have voted for candidates in November of 2008 based on their love of freedom and private property sanctity, but the bulk did not - they stupidly wanted “change” (though I don’t think they had this change in mind). Ultimately, if you live in North Carolina, are reading this and did nothing throughout the spring of 2009 to oppose this, you are guilty.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not the restaurant, bar and rebellious citizen defies this ban. The fines, after all, are relatively paltry, there is no money for enforcement and - I’m willing to bet - local law enforcement has better things to do.

Now, if you want to do something, read and bookmark this page. It will be here at least until November of 2012. It details exactly who in the North Carolina legislature is guilty, who stood up for freedom, and who is kinda grey in this area.

Write and call them now and express your outrage over this theft of individual liberties and private property freedom (each name is linked to their biography). And, come the next election, vote accordingly.

Note 2/2011: Some of these individuals are no longer in office, but I am not going to update this page - use what you can to defeat the remaining antis.

The North Carolina Senate

Advice: vote against them in the next election, no matter who is the other candidate (if multiple challengers, find out who opposes smoking bans, and vote for that person)

THE HEROES - Those whom voted AGAINST the smoking ban.

Advice: Thank them now, vote FOR them in next election.

The North Carolina House of Representatives

Vote on HB2 - Ban smoking in restaurants and bars, no exceptions

Date of Vote: May 14th, 2009    For: 62   Against: 56

THE GUILTY - Those whom voted FOR the smoking ban.

Advice: vote against them in the next election, no matter who is the other candidate (if multiple challengers, find out who opposes smoking bans, and vote for that person)

GREY AREA - These people voted AGAINST the final total smoking ban bill BUT voted FOR a ban that exempted businesses that prohibited under 18 year olds. This bill led to the total ban.

Advice: Write them now, scrutinize them in the upcoming elections.

THE HEROES - Those whom voted AGAINST the smoking ban.

Advice: Thank them now, vote FOR them in the next election.

Special note for anyone still under the assumption that a Republican label guarantees a vote for freedom - if not for three or four of the nine Republicans above, this ban would have died.

And Let us not forget, for November 2012 - the final GUILTY person:

Governor: Beverly E. Perdue - D

Whom proudly and stupidly signed this smoking ban into law - ensuring the destruction of freedom and fun in North Carolina. Bitch.
